Dance Recital

Elizabeth spent this past year in dance class and last night was her dance recital. She will be done for the summer. She was so cute in her little costume and looked so grown up on stage with all the other kids. I am so proud of her. If you can't tell she is the one on the right.

Easter came 2 days after we had Zachary, so the kids got to dress in their new Easter clothes the following Sunday. Aren't they all just so cute!

baby vs. the cold

I know colds are inevitable, however it makes my heart break knowing my 10 day old baby has a cold. He is coughing, wheezing, and has quite a bit of yucky snot. My Martin has the cold last week and we tried keeping the baby away from him, but there is only so much we could do. Now, Martin is healthy and the baby has the sickies. Thankfully he isn't running a temperature and is still nursing fine. I do hope he kicks this cold fast so I can be worry-free.

On a high note, we had a wonderful visit with my mom who came out and helped while I was recovering from my delivery. The kids had a great time with her and enjoyed all the fun activities they got to do together. We did have to drive her back to the airport last night and now we wait a couple of days until Marty's mom comes for a visit. Boy are they lucky, 2 grandmas back-to-back. I think they love the spoiling and attention they get.

Elizabeth loves her new baby brother. Any time he fusses, she runs over and pats him telling him it'll be okay. She asks to hold him and for me to take pictures. It is too cute. Martin isn't as interested and I can hardly get him to hold still enough for a picture, which is why there isn't one of him and the baby. He is usually running off to do something more exciting. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not...hmmm. As for him, we are just trying to get him to stay asleep in bed longer than 5:00 in the morning. This kid will be just like his dad...an early morning bird.

Zachary Mason

Our son Zachary Mason Hiers was born Friday afternoon. He was 8.1 lbs measuring 20 in. We went in Thursday evening for the induction and without much excitement in the evening, I delivered him at 2 in the afternoon. We are very happy to have him here.

The countdown

We are on 2 days and counting until our amnio. Right now I am scheduled to be in Eugene at 9:30 Wednesday morning. Based on the results of the amnio either go in to the hospital Thursday night or we will have to wait until Mon/Tues of next week. Of course the 1st option is what we are really hoping for, but at the same time we really want to make sure our baby will be ready to come. It also feel like no matter how much I prepare to have a baby come, I don't feel prepared at all. There seems to be so many things that need to get done. One of our hold-ups already this week is sick kids. Marty and I spent the majority of the night up with the kids. Not just 1, but 2 were throwing up constantly last night. I think we both managed to get maybe 3 hours of sleep, of course waking up at intervals to take the kids to the toilet. This is definitely not the fun part of parenting.

Baby News

I have hit my 3rd trimester and am beginning to feel very pregnant. In fact I am now at 32 weeks and have realized that I have 2 months left. Most everyone knows that I had a pretty difficult delivery with Elizabeth. Because of that, when I was pregnant with Martin I was given the option to have a c-section. I chose not to go that route and opted for an amnio at 37 weeks. His lungs were not ready at 37 week and at 38 weeks I went in for an induction. He was 10 days early and weighed 8.2 pounds. With this baby my doctor wants to keep a close eye on him as well, just so we don't run into any complications as with Elizabeth. At my 32 week appointment I had an ultrasound to see how this baby is measuring. It turns out he is measuring 2 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule. In reality, I'm not really surprised, however that does mean we go through the same thing as we did with Martin. So, at 37 weeks I am heading in for an amnio and we will go from there. Feels like deja-vu all over again. This also means that I really only have 5 weeks of being pregnant left and need to get things in order. One thing I've been meaning to get do is buy a dresser for Martin. Once I do that I can put baby clothes in the changing table and then feel like a baby can come home. It seems like all this is happening so fast...where did my 40 weeks go??? What have I been doing all this time???

Daddy daughter dance

Each year, Roseburg holds a daddy daughter dance at the fairgrounds. This year Marty took Elizabeth for the 1st time. I had so much fun getting her ready for the dance and Marty enjoyed some quality time with his little girl. It was nice for me too, I got to spend some alone time with Martin.
