Baby Shower

I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of the baby shower that my good friend Stephanie put together for me. It turned out to be fun and it was a blast to have lots of friends there. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful things that were given to baby Martin!

Things keep changing on us

I went in for the amnio on Tues. and waited and waited for the results. I got a call Wednesday morning and was told that the lungs were still immature and it was a no-go for the induction today. Marty and I were then set that we would have a c-section on the 13th...since that's what we talked about. I had my mom change her airline ticket and of course called everyone to let them know.
Today, I go in for my weekly appointment with my doctor and come to find out, she went ahead and scheduled me to go in for an induction next Thursday. Of course I had my concerns about lung development and the head size. She calmed my nerves and believes this will be an effective way to go and doesn't believe I should have any problems. SO...that is our plan of action now and hopefully we will keep this one without changing it...but we'll see.

What's going on...

I thought I would take a minute and let you know what is going on. Marty and I went into the doctor yesterday for a final ultrasound. We are currently at 36 weeks. The ultrasound showed that the baby is big and we were debating between going in for an early induction or having a c-section. After talking with our doctor, we decided that we are going to try for an early induction, but that means that we have to drive to Eugene to have an amnio done to make sure that the lungs are developed. We will get the results of that Tuesday night and if everything is clear, then we will go in Thursday night so I can be induced. They say that it can take up to two days from the start of the induction process. If the test comes back saying that the lungs aren't developed, then we will go in on the 13th of March for the c-section. It seems crazy to me that our baby could be here by next weekend, but I am so excited to hold this little boy.

Baby Martin's new room

SO...for all you anticipated viewers...here is the room. Marty spent lots of time and work into putting up the paneling and moulding, so make sure you tell him how wonderful it looks. I think it turned out great and I really like how the blue makes the room light. As you can see there isn't much to it yet. The crib is still in Elizabeth's room and will probably be there for a while after the baby is born. We just have to get the rocking chair in the room and then put some stuff up on the walls and we are done. I'm very glad to say that we are so close to being finished. It has been hard being motivated to do anything these days.

15 month check-up

Elizabeth went in today for her 15 month check-up. So far, all is well. She weighs 20 pounds and 11 ounces and she is 31 inches tall. I was really impressed today as she was given her shots...she didn't cry at all! She said, "Owww" and that was all. I don't think I will get that lucky again, but I thought she was really brave. Shots must take a toll on little ones, because we got home and she snoozed for several hours...which was nice for me. I was able to get some things done in preparation for the baby. We finally bought Elizabeth a dresser so we can get the changing table out of her room and into the baby's room. The crib is another story.

Have a seat

For Christmas, George made a couple of chairs for Elizabeth to go with her table. I couldn't believe how much she loves them. Well...one of them got a little cracked in the mail, but as you can see one of them is perfect. She really likes sitting and also standing on the chair. I think she looks like a little lady. Now that we have these new chairs for her, she wants to sit on everything...the stepstool, a box.

As for progress on little Martin's room...we haven't progressed too far. We are planning on doing paneling in his room and we have that and it's cut. We also have painted have of the room as well. All we have left is everything else. I'm not feeling too motivated to get any of it done either. I think this weekend we will have to get cracking and get the room completed. We have less than 8 weeks to go and I do want the baby to come home to a finished room. I can't see us having any time to get anything done after the baby arrives.

A whole week!

I can't believe it's been an entire week and Elizabeth is doing great. It was so easy that it's hard for me to actually believe that I was contemplating it being okay for her to keep her pacifier with the new baby. The first couple of days with not wanting to sleep were hard, but after about 3 days it was nothing. She has also gone from napping twice a day to only once, but the length of that one nap is long-lasting so I can get some things done around the house. I can hardly believe that she keeps me on my toes and runs circles around me. Talk about energy. And boy does she eat. I was telling Marty the other day that she snacks constantly throughout the day and can go through a bottle of juice in about 3 days. She must need all of that for her to keep going and moving. Her new favorite are the blocks that her Aunt Rachel got her for Christmas. She loves to bang them on the kitchen floor. I think it's the noise she likes.

WE are getting ready to put the baby's room together. We have a couple of items that we have to get rid of before we can officially begin, so it's becoming a slow process. We have 9 weeks left to get everything in order. Marty put on an attic ladder this past weekend so I think a lot of things will be going into the attic. Anyway, we are very excited about our upcoming arrival.
